Full-time IT Analyst II/Senior - AMI

Alliant Energy has a rewarding opportunity in our IT Meter System Support department as an IT Analyst II (or Sr. Analyst). In this role, you will become part of the core team that will be responsible for our Smart Meter Implementation in our Iowa service territory and continued support of our core AMI systems.

You will have the opportunity to learn and support leading edge technology in the area of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) systems such as AMI Head End System and Meter Data Management System (MDMS).

In joining this talented team of experienced IT professionals, you will be a part of an innovative and collaborative team that partners and coordinates with the infrastructure team, business analyst and internal customers.
We have the flexibility to fill the position as an Analyst II or Sr. Analyst based on the candidate’s experience.
Position can be located at either Cedar Rapids, IA (preferred) or Madison, WI

Job Responsibilities
Following general instructions, ensures critical review points and quality assurance controls are included in all application development projects.
Develops cost estimates associated with recommended system development solutions.
Assists in defining application requirements and participates in workshops, data and process modeling, and prototyping sessions.
Assists in ensuring business and technical needs and opportunities are identified and satisfied throughout design, development, and implementation efforts. May plan agendas and facilitate meetings of medium complexity.
Assists in the gathering and analysis of information required for proper technical design, including the identification and evaluation of purchased package solutions.
Works with data/database administration functions to ensure proper design of system databases and appropriate integration with other corporate data.
Assists with analyzing information and business process flows to integrate new applications with existing applications.
May interact with security and infrastructure areas to recommend appropriate security and control factors and infrastructure requirements for applications.
Performs testing for moderately complex systems, and assists other analysts in testing complex systems. Helps develop critical measures to test function and system performance improvements.
Assists business team in identifying training requirements to support application and other information technology use.
All other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
Analyst II
This position requires a four year degree from an accredited college or university with emphasis in information technology
Three years of development experience.
In absence of a degree, seven years of related experience is required.

Senior Analyst
This position requires a four year degree from an accredited college or university with emphasis in information technology.
Five years of development experience.
In absence of a degree, nine years of related experience is required.

Preferred Experience:
AMI Head End System and Meter Data Management System (MDMS) preferred.
Ability to quickly learn and improve technologies such as programming languages, data management systems, enterprise.
Experience with database query development, report/dashboard development, advanced analytics such as data mining.

Required Skills:
Demonstrated knowledge of concepts of information technology, standard application development methods, and relational database technology.
Demonstrated ability to implement standard analysis, programming, and testing techniques across the development life cycle of systems.
Ability to determine the use of appropriate current information processing technology, applies logical reasoning to moderately complex situations, and analyzes problems of a moderately complex nature and derives workable solutions.
Advanced ability to develop and maintain business applications using application development tools as defined.
Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management).
Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a diverse work environment. *NOTE: All candidates selected for employment with Alliant Energy will be required to successfully complete a drug screen and background check.
