Type of Position Regular: A position which is considered essential for the effective long-term operation of the university. Persons appointed to this position will receive the privileges and benefits associated with regular employment status.

NOTE: This is a school year position; starts one week prior to the start of the fall semester and ends on the last day of the spring semester. The salary listed on this requisition is for 12 months. The final salary will be adjusted based on the dates of the school year appointment (9 months).

Position Specific Summary: Design, plan, promote and provide wellness/preventive care programs of substantial complexity and impact, either on and/or off campus.

Key Areas of Responsibilities and Specific Job Tasks

Defines key learning objectives for training sessions.
Selects suitable delivery methods for different training sessions.
Implements adjustments to training in light of audience feedback. Documents and reports problems that arise during training sessions.
Provides frequent updates on operations and financial performance to leadership.
Ability to direct a program by developing, promoting and implementing the specific goals and objectives of the program.
Serves as program instructor, facilitator, trainer, and/or consultant for substance abuse prevention and intervention programs and general college health issues.
Assesses the needs and priorities for health education and promotion programs, emphasizing substance abuse prevention and intervention and other general college health issues.
Assists with coordination and facilitation of group educational programs.
Documents outcomes regarding program effectiveness and behavior change.
Writes and edits articles and reports for publication and distribution.
Develops program materials that accurately reflect standards, policies and services to those being served.
Follows relevant policies and procedures when coordinating program operations.
Identifies and analyzes problems currently existing in program operations.
Maintains the quality of services provided to program "customers."
Participates in delivery of training via various methods for existing lesson plans.

Education Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Health Promotion, Health Education, Psychology or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience Required:
Program experience (typically 1-3 years) in health promotion or health education.
Experience (typically 6 months – 1 year) in public speaking, technical writing and/or teaching.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge and understanding of young adult growth and development
Skills in interpersonal relationships and ability to maintain effective working relations with others.
Knowledge of substance abuse prevention and intervention.
Proficient in computer software applications including desktop publishing.
Understanding of web-based environments.
Desirable Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Health Promotion, Public Health, College Student Development, or related field.

Professional experience in college health topics, specifically substance abuse prevention and intervention.

Certified Health Education Specialist preferred

Professional experience working in Higher Education.

Bi-lingual skills in a foreign language highly desired (Mandarin highly preferred).
