Position Description:
The Global Health Studies Program in the Division of Interdisciplinary Programs at the University of Iowa invites applications for a Lecturer to begin in August 2017. The Global Health Studies Program builds upon the humanities, social sciences, and health sciences to help students better understand the underlying forces—such as technology, economics, politics, religion, law, gender and sexuality, history, and culture—that shape health and disease both locally and worldwide. We are seeking candidates whose work is grounded in the study of global health, broadly defined. Areas of specialization are open, but the successful candidate should have a terminal degree in any global health related discipline—these can include but are not limited to Public Health, Sociology, History, Communications, Gender Studies, Health Sciences, Anthropology—by August 16, 2017.



Position responsibilities will include teaching 3 undergraduate courses per semester, including GHS:2000 Introduction to Global Health and other courses in the scholar's area of expertise, as well as some departmental service.



This is a 75% position that provides full health and dental benefits.



As per University policy, the initial appointment is for one academic year (August 2017-May 2018) renewable up to three years, with subsequent three-year appointments possible subject to satisfactory review. Candidates should have terminal degree in a Global Health-related field in hand by date of appointment (August 16, 2017).

Required Qualifications:
