Full-time Cash Receivables Specialist

Description

Position within the BMO Accounting Processing group responsible to perform, process and control corporate accounting transactions related to BMO parent. Support Inter-Company accounting processing, daily processing of accounting entries, foreign cash operations and cash remittance processing. Provide assistance to team members and relief as required.

Key Accountability Areas

1. Cash management and transactional accounting and control.
2. Assist with the accounting operations of bank’s inter-company business agreement, including cross-border operations.
3. Perform daily cash operational functions.
4. Responsible for electronic payment processing, file transmissions and controls.
5. Engage in simplification of process & integration of systems.
6. Others

Specific Accountabilities:

1. Cash management and transactional accounting and control.
a. Responsible to perform the transactional accounting, including the accounting of daily cash transactions. Perform rigorous reconciliation to ensure customer & business records match. Control and analyze cash transactions, apply due diligence to comply with cash management policies. Report or advise of any discrepancy or action taken to appropriate management. Timely escalate any issue to management as required. Perform accurate transactional accounting.
2. Assist with the accounting operations of bank’s inter-company business agreement, including cross-border operations.
a. Provide support for the US and Canadian cash operations. Ensure processes meet compliance requirements of each entity.
3. Perform daily cash operational functions.
a. Provide superior customer support through daily cash operations. Apply funds received per business policy, resolve cash application issues, communicate outcomes & meet expected SLAs (service level agreements). Collaborate with customers to reconcile accounts.
4. Responsible for electronic payment processing, file transmissions and controls.
a. Perform daily review of electronic payment processes, coordinate setup of new payment records, resolve issues & enter control totals.
5. Engage in simplification of process & integration of systems.
a. Identify & implement process improvement changes. Assist in the development of requirements & provide testing support for system integrations.
6. Others
a. Support team members with team members and provide assistance to other teams assuming certain responsibilities during times of absence. Utilize workflow tools to prioritize daily tasks. Be able to perform all duties associated with the role. Keep abreast of products, services and process and policy changes. Assist and support projects & implementations. Provide input for statistics and analysis. Timely escalate non-compliance issues.

Authorities:

· Approve financial transactions up to authority limit granted.
· Approve accounting transactions and journal entries made within own unit up to the authority of limit granted.
· Work independently with minimum guidance.

Job Dimensions:

· Strict cash processing deadlines
· Multi-currency accounts
· Substantial reliance placed on the incumbent for processing & reporting integrity
Qualifications

Knowledge

· Bachelor’s degree or High School diploma/GED with a minimum of 3 years experience in a financial services, operations or customer service setting
· Knowledge of Bank accounting practices, policies & financial systems
· Experience with Microsoft Suite including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook or comparable software application. Knowledge of compliance as it relates to financial services
· Strong reconciliation and analytical thinking skills
· Good level of PC literacy, aptitude to learn multiple systems quickly
