Full-time Lead Risk Analyst, Risk Management (Finance/Actuarial)

Job Description Summary
This position will be responsible for operational risk management activities within Finance/Actuarial functions and particularly the Actuarial and Hedging processes. The role will be tasked with executing risk assessments, assessing controls, advising, and raising awareness of the risks identified to Management in decision making positions.
Job Description
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Represent Risk Management on certain business related activities, cross-functional meetings, committees, etc.
Collaborate with finance and actuarial leaders to provide operational risk perspective related to the definition, prioritization, and execution of various initiatives
Partner with the business to execute risk assessments throughout the finance/actuarial space; proactively understand, assess and document key risks and controls and communicate outcomes to senior management
Subject matter expert on controls in the finance/actuarial space with a broad understanding of business processes in order to translate risk findings into business-related decision points.
Strong collaboration working with peers in our risk management functions, as well as directly with peers in legal, privacy, and compliance
Support risk issue management including identification, root cause analysis, action plan status and reporting.
Other duties as assigned based on divisional needs.
Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.
Required Qualifications:
BA degree in related field (accounting, finance, risk management.)
Minimum 8 years of experience working in an operational risk or audit related function
Knowledge of operational risk/audit related principles including practices around control assessment and process flows
Baseline understanding and/or prior experience working with actuarial, finance, or hedging processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong knowledge and/or prior experience in the insurance or financial services industry.
Prior experience in an external auditing function is a plus.
One or more of the following certifications, or equivalent:
(CPA) Certified Public Accountant.
(CIA) Certified Internal Auditor
Leadership and Behavioral Competencies:
Ability to influence change and enforce risk and control mindset in the business
Excellent communication skills; effectively persuades others and facilitates conversation in situations of conflict.
Ability to lead a project independently, establish milestones and advise on progress.
Provides support and leadership surrounding collaborative activities.
     
Working Conditions
Normal office environment. Travel required up to 30%.
