Full-time VP of Operations Transportation

Job Description
Company, an Insurance and Financial Strategies firm headquartered in downtown Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Is currently seeking a Vice President of Operations to support our Transportation Division. The Vice President of Operations will implement operational initiatives, oversee productivity of service, personnel, utilize technology and achieve efficiency in workload while maintaining a positive client experience.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Leadership:
Understand the client industry niche, recognize the typical business problems faced by the clients and how our service platforms across all disciplines provide solutions
Maintain proactive awareness of the industry and how changes in the insurance industry, the economy and legislation impact clients
Represent Company in client, insurance and community through visible writing, speaking and networking
Advocate for changes and additions to service platforms that increase value, eliminate barriers and also add strategic value to the clients
Client Experience:
Develop a "best in class" client service platform, educate and implement consistently; including managing the packaging, templates, materials and evaluating annually to ensure continuous improvement. Success is measured from feedback from Producers, service personnel and clients
Re-engineer client service platforms (based on level of account status) as well as document and train service personnel
Manage and promote market relationships including managing contracts and contingencies
Travel when necessary, to present services and value adds to clients
Innovate and evaluate opportunities to improve our services
Work with Operations leadership to develop training programs and materials for internal and external users; review annually for updates
Technical Knowledge, Quality & Workflow:
Annually evaluate workflows and processes in order to accurately align resources according to matrix, improve efficiency and improve the client experience; document annual process changes and communicate and manage after implementation
Monitor key performance indicators; ensuring attainment of objectives and taking corrective action as necessary
Leverage systems (LEAN, Quality Mgmt, etc.) and technology to improve administrative processes, the client experience and achieve maximum efficiency
Develop a culture of growth and development of people at all levels, and ensure that a pool of talent will be ready to succeed him/her in the short or long term
Concisely articulate plans at a strategic level when communicating to leadership, producers and EVP’s/ Managing Directors; success is measured from feedback provided to EVPs, leaders, producers and/or Managing Directors
Consistently stay up to date on P and C and Transportation related issues and is able to communicate and inform others within the division; provide periodic updates and industry updates
Responsible to obtain divisional critical indicators annually as defined by Finance (with collaboration from Producer, SVP and EVP)
Organization & Planning:
Accountable to build and carry out expense budgets and establish cost controls to maintain financial objectives as economic conditions fluctuate
Develop and manage operational strategic plans and initiatives to advance the divisional missions and objectives, including processes, workflows, deliverables and touch programs
Teamwork & Work Habits:
Manage the retention and development of high performance workforce
Integrate organizational policies, directives and procedures within the division and various locations; success is measured by consistency and acceptable professional standards reviews
Lead by example by participating in events, trainings and meetings that support our mission, goals and initiatives; this would include Team Huddles, Board of Education, Servco meeting, M&A meetings, etc.
Act as a public relations liaison on behalf of the firm to the community and the press, measured by the individual ability to manage these opportunities independently and with little supervision
Set an example in work habits by being on time, planning time away from the office in advance, and managing work load while in the office
Set an example by looking and acting professional at all times, during casual days, when leaders are presenting, at company events, etc.
Serve as a positive role model in the community
Take on additional workload and multiple tasks or projects when necessary; as a leader, there will be influxes of work that must be completed timely and accurately; measured by ability to meet deadlines and manage workload
Education & Experience:

A Bachelor's degree with a major in Business Administration, Finance, or Risk Management is required
A minimum of seven years operational work experience is required
Work experience in the Insurance and/or Transportation industry is preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; specifically intermediate Word and Excel skills, and basic PowerPoint skills

Excellent organizational and planning skills – must be able to manage and influence various tasks and initiatives while also seeking new and continuous improvement opportunities
