Temporary Change a child's life, change yours ~ be a Children of Promise Foster Grandparent! Education UWECI

at Children of Promise, Foster Grandparent Program connects caring Eastern Iowans over age 55 with children in need of positive mentoring across Johnson, in Cedar Rapids, IA

Children of Promise, Foster Grandparent Program connects caring Eastern Iowans over age 55 with children in need of positive mentoring across Johnson, Jones, and Linn Counties. Our Foster Grandparents serve in schools, day cares, and community centers, helping kids with classroom subjects like reading and math. The guidance of a Foster Grandparent can boost a child's self-esteem, improve their social skills, and remind struggling youth that a brighter future is in store.
Many Foster Grandparents soar with a renewed sense of purpose, and take great pride in the accomplishments of the children they serve. In addition to personal fulfillment, many find the tax-free reimbursement for serving to be very helpful with life's expenses. These dollars should not affect any existing benefits.

As part of the Community Corrections Improvement Association, our goal is to break the cycle of family incarceration by working to instill assets in youth that help them overcome life-challenges. The results are amazing. Our Children of Promise consistently show increased confidence, decreased behavior problems, and lower unexcused school absences.

Children of Promise Foster Grandparent Program welcomes those over age 55 who enjoy working with children. Individuals must be able to commit to service of 15-40 hours per week. Some program-specific income guidelines apply. Foster Grandparents enjoy multiple benefits including paid time off, orientation and monthly trainings, annual service recognition, and so much more!
