Temporary MENTOR a Child During the Lunch Hour with Big Brothers Big Sisters Education

Our goal is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. We do this through community- and site-based mentoring.

Lunch Buddies is a site-based mentoring program for elementary age students. Volunteers meet with a child at school during their lunch hour. The commitment is at least twice a month for one year. During the visit matches have time to eat & talk, work on homework or play games together. Options for schools include: Strawberry Hill, Hiawatha, Kenwood, Arthur, Garfield, Johnson, Van Buren, and Taylor.
School Buddies is a site-based mentoring program for middle school students. Taking place at a child's school every other week on a set date/time for one hour per session, volunteers participate with the child in fun activities and games created to educate on subjects such as academic success, peer pressure and risky behaviors. Options for schools include: Roosevelt, Franklin, McKinley, and Wilson.
All volunteers and children are fully screened, assessed and supported to ensure the safety of our program participants. Matching is based on preferences and interests.
